2016 Club Championships Rules and Regulations

Nuneaton Triathlon Club – Club Championship League 2016

Building on the success of the previous year’s Club Championship League, we are continuing with the same format for the 2016 Club League Championship. The Club Championship will continue to be based on points earned by performance across a number of events – the club’s “Championship League”. We are reviewing the possibility of an ‘away’ event this year, which last year was unofficially the Sandman in Anglesea and an announcement about this will be made in due course.

Earning points

Points will be awarded for performance within an eligible event. Each eligible event has a tariff, which is the number of points which would be earned by the “40th percentile” finisher, or “reference finisher”.

These tariffs are:

Aquathlon – 70 points

Sprint/Super Sprint Triathlon or Duathlon – 80 points

Olympic or equivalent Triathlon or Duathlon – 90 points

Ironman70.3 or equivalent – 95 points

Ironman or equivalent – 100 points

The points earned by a member is calculated thus:

Points = (Reference finisher’s time / Member’s time) x Tariff

so a member finishing ahead of the reference finisher will score more points than the tariff, somebody finishing slower than the reference finisher will score fewer points.

Eligible events

The list of eligible events – the Club Championship League – is shown on a separate table of events. A member must score from THREE events to be eligible for the Club Championship league trophies. If a member competes in more than three events, it will be the best valid combination of their events which counts. In addition to those events listed on the Club Championship Events 2016, any of the following events will also qualify:

  • IM70.3 or equivalent middle distance (95 points)

Any event held between January 2016 and December 2016 inclusive, provided that the member notifies the league administrator (clubchamp@nuneatontriathlonclub.co.uk) of their participation in the event prior to the event taking place and provides full results from which championship points can be calculated within two weeks of the event taking place.

  • Ironman or equivalent long distance (100 points)

Any event held between January 2016 and December 2016 inclusive, provided that the member notifies the league administrator of their participation in the event prior to the event taking place and provides full results from which championship points can be calculated within two weeks of the event taking place.
